Most Udaipur weddings are not Udaipur weddings. The family is from Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai or Delhi; the city is the venue. That is a specific job: three or four days, guests who have flown in and do not know each other, and a host who has to knit a room together fast. Do you travel to Udaipur for destination weddings?
Yes. I am based in Ahmedabad and travel for the full run of a destination wedding rather than per function. Travel and stay are billed at cost, never marked up.
Why bring a host from Gujarat instead of hiring in Udaipur?
Because most Udaipur weddings are hosted for families who are not from Udaipur. If your family laughs in Gujarati, a host who works in Gujarati, Hindi and English is doing a different job from a local anchor working in Hindi alone — and I meet the couple a month before, so the script comes out of your story.
How many days do you stay for?
The whole run. A destination wedding is a single event spread over days, and the third night only works if the host was on the first one.
